TIRE INSPECTION SERVICES

Regardless of a car’s price and model, tires remain one of the crucial parts that make a vehicle functional. They also help prevent accidents by absorbing energy from external forces like brakes and steering. They remain as the first line of defense between driving safely and dangerously. Therefore, regularly checking the tire condition ensures that you are always safe when driving.

Cars with damaged or excessive wear tires can lead to unforeseen accidents. To illustrate, driving with a slow air leak from one of the car tires is dangerous since the traction is reduced. It will take more speed and effort to move the car so traveling can be problematic. Moreover, the flat tire will receive more damages for each passing mile. As such, the driver has the responsibility to regularly inspect their tires at least once a month for any damages, may it be cuts, tears, bulges, or excessive wear.

Why are Tire Inspections Necessary?

Driving an unsafe vehicle is dangerous not only for you and your passengers but also for other bystanders and fellow drivers. The lives of innocent people may be lost once an untimely accident happens due to an unmaintained car. These vehicles are the result of negligence and carelessness when in comes to regular maintenance. Neglecting proper care and checkup procedures of a vehicle makes it impossible to determine the areas of the vehicle that needs repair.

One of the factors that make vehicles unsafe is busted tires. Without regular inspection, drivers won’t know if their tires already have air leaks. Unnoticed slow air leaks can eventually lead to decreased traction, increased damages to the tires, and loss of control. Additionally, tires can lose their traction if they either experience excessive tire wear or expire. Continuous use without inspection and replacement of worn-out tires increases the likelihood of accidents occurring.

Prevention is the most important factor in maintaining tire safety. Thus, it is important to conduct tire inspections as a precautionary measure so that accidents can be prevented. Vehicles should undergo regular maintenance procedures to ensure that everything is working and safe. This way, the risks on the road are minimized.

What aspects of the tire should I inspect?

Tread depth
There are numerous ways to measure the tread depth. In the US, the most popular way to do this is through the Penny Test. The Penny Test requires inserting the penny in between the tread to check if Lincoln’s head can be seen. The height of Lincoln’s head is measured at four millimeters (mm), the minimum requirement for tires. Having more than 4 mm of tread means you have enough to be able to drive safely.

Tire pressure
During an inspection, you need to make sure that there is proper pressure across all four tires. The pressure is usually measured using a tire pressure gauge Having the right pressure does not only guarantee a safe and smooth drive, but it also maximizes the traction and prevents further damages to the tires.

Leaks and damages (signs of tire wear)
Heavily damaged, torn, or slashed tires make vehicles unsafe for driving. Visually inspecting any damages or sharp objects on the tires can help identify problems that might potentially damage the tires in the long run. During an inspection, one should look out for the visible cracks, uneven treads, cuts, and signs of wear and stress before consulting with a professional mechanic.

Age or Expiration Date
Although tires are known to be durable and sturdy, they don’t last forever. All manufactured tires come with an expiration date. As tires become more oxidized, they start to lose their grip and traction, making the vehicle unsuitable to drive. Thus, there is a need to immediately replace old tires to ensure that the vehicle remains safe.

Where Can I Find Professional Tire Inspection Services?

Tires provide the grip that we need to control our vehicles on the road. Without them, we would have no traction at all, and accidents would happen all the time. Tire damages and tire leaks are serious safety concerns. It is important to be able to properly maintain these tires at all times to decrease the risks while using the vehicle. Professional tire inspection services are extremely crucial in your car maintenance activities.
